The scholarship application is made available to graduating seniors in the cooperative’s seven parish service area, which includes Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, Grant, LaSalle, and Tensas.

While Concordia Electric will sponsor ten of the scholarships, LREA, Louisiana Rural Electric Association, will be sponsoring the remaining five. LREA is a trade organization of rural electric cooperatives in Louisiana founded in February 2000 by Concordia Electric and Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corporation (SLEMCO) of Lafayette.

The association works closely with the Louisiana Legislature and the LPSC to ensure that Concordia’s needs are being met while continuing to provide electricity at the lowest possible cost to consumers.
