Doug is a retired Biology professor from Copiah-Lincoln Community College who re-located back to Vidalia, Louisiana in May 2004. Grandpa Doug ("reelman") belongs to four area bass clubs and handles multi-club publicity via his website/forum.

The McComb-based Southwest Miss. Bass Club was on Larto Lake August 21st with 20 members who caught many limits with most having 7-8 bites, lake water still low and the air sizzlin HOT.

4th...Jerry Stubbs...10.18 limit on Bandits

Next SWC event is Sept. 18th on Lake Concordia to complete their year.

Wayne Dolittle (2.30), Joey Gilbert (2.20), Scott Smith (1.35) and Robbie Hargis (1.00). Clifford Chapman, Joey Chapman, Bobby Hall, Mike Essary, Bob Holland, Keith Andrews, Barry Chapman and Nick Andrews also fished.

Nine hardy CBC members braved the 109 heat index and very low 88-90 degree Larto Lake below Jonesville to rack 6 limits and 34 bass. Most CBC members were fishing the 4 Rivers Benefit today. 1st...Doug Schexnayder of Vidalia...16.43 limit with the 5.32 lunker mainly on Cordell crankbait 10-11am.

CONCORDIA BASS CLUB winners on a low Bushley Bayou July 17th were (l-r): John Bruce of Vidalia (11.44 limit, 3.42 kicker on Spooks/jigs), Jr. Book of Lake St. John (9.26 limit, 3.27 kicker on Spooks), Doug Schexnayder of Vidalia (8.76, 3.76 lunker on Torpedo/BuzzBait), Boogie Long Jr. of Natchez (7.97 limit, 3.49 kicker) and Tim Houghton of Clayton (6.90 limit). Others with bass were Joe Houghton (6.09 limit), Ricky Gillespie (6.05 limit), Matt Smith (4.57, 3.61 kicker), Jerry Enis (4.46), Clyde Morace (1.88), Eric Laprairie (1.30), Mark Morace (1.01) and Boogie Long (.92).

Others with bass were Randy Pitre (winner 11.87 limit, 3.55 kicker), Terrell Jones (6.96), Paul Foster (6.91), Buster Nartinez (6.30), Glen Foster (6.03), Herman Goodman (5.36), Doug Schexnayder (4.55), Jerry Boykin (3.60) and Allen Blanton (1.04).

Only four showed so paid two places and the side lunker pot at Larto Lake Saturday:

1st...Buddy Smith...11.86 limit on Flat Maxx (caught about 20 he said)
2nd..Doug Schexnayder...10.76 limit on topwaters, 5.03 lunker on modified buzzbait (caught 7 all day)
3rd...Ray Ladner...7.26 limit with a 4.29
4th...Trae Ladner...3.43 limit
We had no minimum size cause its a FUN day thing...
Did not bother with any pics...

Water still falling and was 88 degrees...
Lake Commission president Grover Wiley is trying to get another 1.5 feet of water let in somehow...that would be soooo good...

My 1st 5 pounder "baby gorilla" of 2010...when you see the signature toilet flush from a hefty sow bass coming out of a top to inhale your modified buzzbait (with trailer)...la la la la la...I like dat!

Five Bass Blitz Fruit Jar on Larto Lake May 29th. Weigh-in 2 PM. Entry fee $30 a person at Wiley's. Payout 40%-30%-20%-10% if 12 entries or more. Optional lunker pot $5. Must pay by 5:30 AM, ease off at 5:40 AM.

The Natchez-based Miss-Lou Bass Club fished a low and 79-80 degree Larto Lake May 23rd.  The 15 anglers and a guest racked 9 limits with 1 zip plus 7 over 4 pounds.

Randy Pitre of Vidalia while fishing a tournament with the Concordia Bass Club on Lake Louis near Sicily Island landed these two lunkers including the 5.96 lbs on the left with a 20.28 lbs. limit on topwaters.
Concordia Bass Club winners on low dingy Lake Louis near Sicily Island May 22nd were (l-r): Randy Pitre of Vidalia (20.28 limit, 5.96 lunker on topwaters), Tim Houghton (16.17 limit), guest Boogie Long Jr. (12.40 limit, 4.02 kicker), John Bruce (11.91 limit) and Joe Houghton (11.07). Other good weights were Alan Brumfield (8.78 limit), guest Herman Goodman (4 for 8.48 with 5.56 kicker), Doug Schexnayder (7.95 with 3.60 kicker), Jerry Enis (7.56 limit), and Mark Morace (7.41 limit)...17 fished with 13 limits. BY THE WAY -- Kingfisherman's Club also fished...Tony Hauer caught a bass about 8.68 pounds!!!


RIVER CITY BASS CLUB (RBC) winners on Bayou Louie near Silicy Island May 15th were (l-r): Dale Jamison of Natchez (17.22 limit with a 4.17), Bo Strahan (11.99 limit and 4.20 lunker), Gary Waller (11.84 limit), Carrol Ray Huff (9.42 limit) and Jimmy June (7.52 limit) while Corky Ables had a 7.24 limit.
