LaSalle Riding Club Rodeo Team Year End Results

The LaSalle Riding Club Rodeo Team has completed their junior high and high school state finals rodeos for the 2009-2010 year.  Team members have worked hard all year in an effort to qualify for state finals and possibly move on to the national finals.Â
The Louisiana Junior High School Rodeo Finals (Wrangler Division) were in Gonzales, La.,  on June 4-6, 2010. Each member that earned a point during the regular season, qualified for the state finals.
After the 1st and 2nd go round times were calculated, the top 12 per event qualified to move forward to the championship round. The top 4 after the championship round qualify to move forward to the national finals in Gallup, NM.
Emilee Smith qualified in barrels and poles. In her 1st round of barrels, she ran a really nice 17.284, and in her 2nd round of barrels she ran another nice 17.211. In Emilee’s 1st round of poles, she had a pretty run of 22.475 for 6th place in the round. Her 2nd round pole run was an even faster 22.041.
Ashten Thompson qualified in barrels and goat tying. In her 1st round of barrels, she ran a 17.011 + 5 for a down barrel; however, she came back with an even faster barrel run for the 2nd round with a time of 16.948 for 7th place in the round. She qualified to come back in the championship round in barrels, and finished in 6th place in the round with an awesome 16.850 time. Ashten finished in 12th place in barrels overall for the year. In goat tying, she had a time of 15.00 in the 1st round. She had a time of 15.68 in the 2nd round which was good for 10th place in the round.Â
Kailey Bignar qualified in poles and was very consistent all weekend. She ran a smoking time of 21.496 in the 1st go round for an awesome 2nd place finish.  She came back into the 2nd round with a nice 21.741 for 9th place in the round. She came back strong again in the championship round and ran an awesome 21.777 for 5th place in that round. Kailey finished the year in 8th place overall in the poles.Â
Caleb Patten had a strong year in the boy’s breakaway calf roping with some fast times posted for him, but had some tough luck at finals. He had a no time in the 1st and 2nd round on some really fast calves.
Jessi White qualified for finals in barrels, poles, breakaway, and ribbon roping. She and her partner, Colt Carpenter, had some tough luck with no times in both the 1st and 2nd go rounds. In her barrels 1st round run, she ran a 17.177, and she came back in the 2nd round with a 17.023 for 10th place in the round. In the championship round of barrels,
Jessi ran a 17.065 which placed her 10th in the round. Jessi finished in 11th place overall for the year in barrels. She had a tough time in poles, she ran a 21.0+10 in the 1st round and a 22.541+15 in the second round. In the championship round of poles, she had an awesome 20.906 but knocked a pole adding 5 seconds to the time and finished 7th in the round. She finished in 12th place overall for the year in poles.Â
In girl’s breakaway roping, Jessi had a no time in both the 1st and 2nd go rounds, but came back in the championship round with a really nice 5.58 for 7th place in the round. She finished in 12th place overall for the year in breakaway.
Ashlee Willson qualified in poles, breakaway and ribbon roping. In the girl’s breakaway, she had a no time in the 1st round but came back strong in the 2nd round with a time of 5.00 for 5th place in the round. She also roped her calf in a 3.78 in the championship round for 3rd place in the round. Ashlee finished in 9th position overall for the year in breakaway.
She and her ribbon roping partner, Josh Burley, had tough luck with a no time in the 1st round but had a good run of 15.59 for 7th place in the 2nd round. They also finished the championship round with a 13.53 which was good for 4th place in the round.  They finished in 6th place overall for the year in ribbon roping.  In her 1st round of poles, she ran a beautiful 20.966 but knocked a pole adding another 5 to her time.
She came back in the 2nd round, with a smoking 20.854 for 1st place in the round. The championship round found her running another great 20.956 for 2nd place in the round. This kept her in the #1 position in the state and made her the Wrangler Division State Poles Champion and also qualified her to represent Louisiana at the national finals in Gallup, NM.
The Louisiana High School Rodeo Finals were in Gonzales, La., on June 11-19, 2010. Each member that finished the year in the top 36 in each event qualified to compete at state in a 1st and 2nd go round. After the 1st and 2nd go round times were calculated, the top 15 per event qualified to come back to the championship round. The top 4 after the championship round qualify to move forward to the national finals in Gillette, WY.
Dustin Mullins qualified in bull riding.  Although he hustled really hard and made it back to the championship round, Dustin had no times for the week. Dustin finished in 10th place overall for the year in bull riding.Â
T. J. Bird also qualified in bull riding. He also hustled on some rough bulls but had some tough luck with no times.  Â
Vandi Stockman qualified in goat tying. She had tough luck and a no time in the 1st go round when her goat came untied. She came into the 2nd round with a really nice time of 9.7 for 6th place in the round.
Austin Marceaux qualified in tie down calf roping. He hustled in the tie down calf roping and came out with a 20.85 in the 1st round and a good time of 16.52 in the 2nd round.
Colter White qualified in tie down calf roping and team roping. He tied in a 13.22 for his 1st round in tie down calf roping and came back in the 2nd round with another good tie of 13.57. Colter also competed in team roping with his partner, Tell Burley.
They had a rough time in the 1st and 2nd rounds with no times, but came back in the short go with a time of 9.31 +5 for a 4th place finish in the championship round. Colter and Tell finished the year in 11th place overall in the team roping.
Mattie Cruse qualified in goat tying. She came out of the 1st round with a no time, but came back with a nice 13.19 in the 2nd round. In the short go round, she finished with a strong 13.72. Mattie finished the year in the 15th position overall in the state.
Cydney Brown qualified in barrels and poles. She finished with a nice 16.7 in her 1st round of barrels but had a plus 5 with a barrel down.   She then came back in the 2nd round with a 17.3 in barrels. In poles, Cydney ran a really nice 22.0 for the 1st round. She came back into the 2nd round of poles with some tough luck with a time of 21.5 +15.
Sara Cotton qualified in barrels and poles. She had a nice barrel run in the 1st round but also had a plus 5 with a barrel down. Coming back into the 2nd round, she ran a barrel time of 18.365 +5. In her 1st round of poles, Sara had an awesome 21.5, and in the 2nd round of poles she ran a 25.592.
Hayden Willson competed this same week in the Texas High School Rodeo finals. He qualified in tie down calf roping and team roping. In the 1st round, he had tough luck with a no time on his calf. He came back strong in the 2nd round with a good calf time of 14.83. In the team roping, Hayden and his partner finished the 1st round with a really nice 9.03. They came out of the 2nd round with a 9.70+5.
As this year ends, team members are already looking ahead to preparing for next year. Although it is a lot of hard work, it is also a lot of fun for the members and their families. They meet a lot of new friends and make many memories.Â

125 lbs. male Rottweiler named Luscious but answers to Big Lou, Lou, or Louie. He is black with tan markings and needs medication. He was lost in the Glade/Grassy Lake Area.
