Mary Sue Pipes Peace

Services for Mrs. Mary Sue Pipes Peace, a retired school teacher of Ruston and formerly of Sicily Island, La., will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Sicily Island United Methodist Church in Sicily Island with the Rev. B. K. Miller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Eden Cemetery near Jena, LA under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 10:30 A.M. until time of service in the church.

Mrs. Peace was born April 9, 1925, in Jena, La., the daughter of Jay and Mary Pipes. Mrs. Peace had been a resident of Ruston and formerly of Sicily Island for 57 years.

She was a retired teacher, teaching in Sicily Island and a member of the Sicily Island United Methodist Church. She received her B. S. in Education from Northeast Louisiana University.

She was an avid football fan. She loved the Sicily Island Tigers and served as statistician for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years, Joe Raymond Peace, Sr., and sister, Jeanine Jones.

She is survived by her son: Joe Raymond Peace, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Ruston, La.; four grandchildren: Michele Gulotta and husband, Jeff, Jay Peace, Ray Peace and Tammy, and Robert Peace and wife, Courtney; four great grandchildren: Seth and Andrew Gulotta, Joseph Phillip Peace, and Jaycie Martin.

Pallbearers will be Ray Peace, Robert Peace, Jeff Gullota, Russell Shaffer, Jerry G. Jones, and Glenn Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Louisiana Tech Grandstand Quarterback Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home or the Sicily Island United Methodist Church.
