Jonesville Mayor: Procedure for Reporting Water Leaks

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - Press Release

Our town is experiencing an unusual amount of water leaks.  As the summer days come and go, the ground is expanding and contracting and that is placing a lot of pressure on our old water lines and sewer lines.

Frankly speaking, most of our waterlines are badly deteriorated and are springing several leaks on a daily basis, and the crew is having a difficult time catching up.  Should you find a leak near your residence or in your nearby area, please take the following steps:

1. Call the Town shop or Town Hall during the hours of 7am -4pm.  Someone will check the leak, but if the leak is not bad, the crew may put it off in order to repair a more serious leak, but will come back to you. If the leak is serious, the crew will inform you and will take care of it soon after your call.

2. If you discover a leak after 4pm pr on weekends, please call the Police Department and they will come out and check the seriousness of the leak and make a determination of what to do, but will inform you.

Please be patient during this time as we work to update our system. Very soon, we will be getting USDA financing to completely update our water and sewer system, but until then, we must patch what we have and hope for the best.

Thanks for your cooperation and patience.

Mayor Hiram Evans and the Town Council
