Welcome to catahoulalife.com. This is a website dedicated to a way of life for the unique people, places, and events of Catahoula Parish and the surrounding area.

Hello, my name is David W. Ryan and some of you will remember my newspaper Catahoula Life from the late 1990s.

This is not a newspaper website, but rather an effort at digital journalism that will include you, the reader, as a participant in sharing information through a local portal to the World Wide Web.  Make us your homepage, and see what’s happening locally with some of the very best writing and photography this area has to offer. We are not going to chase news stories, but of course, if some noteworthy news is directed our way and falls into our lap, we will always follow up with a story if needed.

Look to us for the local slant where we might call our subjects by their first names, whether given or not; where old pictures make us oooh and aaah; and where every picture has a story to be told.

We plan to be an archive for many old stories and many more old photographs from Louisiana Folklife.

We want to provide a platform for our schools and students to display their talents academically, athletically, or in other educational and community activities.

We want to promote Catahoula Parish, its people, their businesses, our lives, and your stories; to archive our churches, their following, and the rise of their leaders.

This is the place to share what you will from cherished family photos, and timeless stories, in print, pictures, or video and to honor our veterans while singing their praises.

We invite you to send your church, or school events, schedules, reports, or names of those with outstanding achievements.  We encourage you to take a few minutes and see what all you have to contribute to Catahoula Life.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, and be sure to drop us an e-mail stating what you like, don’t like, or kinds of articles you would like to see more often.

Thanks,
David
